UOI: Students attempted a Summative assessment on the provided sheets. English: Students recapitulated on the concepts done so far. They attempted a Take and Talk on Nocturnal animals. Math: Students attempted a Summative assessment which included concepts og time, addition/subtraction and weight/capacity. Recapitulation of previous concepts was undertaken. Hindi: Students attempted a summative assessment for Hindi sentences. They had to choose few sentences on chits of paper from the given pool. They read the sentences and then illustrated them in their process journals. Students recapitulated the learnt vyanjans through an online presentation. PE: Students revised all the basic skills related to football, athletics and obstacle course. Art: Students learnt the technique of blow art using straws. And finally it was time to party and say goodbye to Kindergarten!

UOI: Students reflected on their knowledge of the Water Cycle by making illustrations on a sheet on paper. To know more about human impact on the Earth’s natural cycles; students were shown cover puzzles of man-made and natural disasters. Later, they reflected on their understanding through the ‘I see, I think, I wonder’ strategy. Students enjoyed going for a field trip to a Nursery where they inquired about plants which help cure seasonal diseases such as dengue, heatstroke, jaundice etc English Integration: Students enjoyed listening to relevant content from the books ‘Too hot too cold’ and ‘How weather works’. English: Students attempted a summative assessment on sentence formation and punctuation in groups. While one group was given a blend and a diagraph with which to form sentences, they rolled a cube of interrogative words to form a question. Another group was given 4 letter blends or three letter words to make a sentence. Similar strategy was used to form questions with the given words. To enhance their listening skills and vocabulary development, students enjoyed listening to the story ‘Too hot too cold’ Math: To develop their knowledge about non-standard units of measurement (capacity), students were shown some pictures on the smart board and asked questions like ‘Why can’t the elephant fit into the tub?’ and ‘should we fill the pool with the glass?’ Later, they were shown bottles, cups and other containers which they arranged in order from smallest to largest capacity in the order of how much they would hold in terms of water, beans beads, blocks etc. To know more about Standard Tools of capacity, students were shown a medicine cup (5 ml) and other measuring cups of varied capacity. They were also shown one litre bottle of a cold drink. Recapitulation of ‘Half past time’ concept was conducted where in students picked up written chits, read them and then drew the hands of the clock on their slate board. Students attempted Summative assessment of subtraction through an online game. Hindi: They were introduced to four letter words like ‘gardna’, ‘ksart’, ‘ajagar’, ‘bacapna’, & ‘sharbat’ through flash cards. Later they wrote these words in their process journals and made illustrations. Students were narrated a story ‘Boondi ki Kahani Paani’. Later they were given an opportunity to re-narrate the story in their own words. Recapitulation of Hindi sentences learnt so far was undertaken. PE: Students practiced all the skills related to football by playing inter-class matches. Students took part in a special assembly and recited poems related to their current unit Natural Cycles.
UOI: Students were divided into groups and brainstormed food, clothing and weather related to each season through Mind map strategy. They created a mind map (illustration) on each season and presented it to their peers. Later they were shown an online presentation which was followed by a discussion. Provocation of a water cycle was conducted. A piece of cloth was dipped in water and students were made to feel the wet cloth. It was then put for drying in the sun and students went back after an hour to see the difference. This was followed by the facilitator asking them questions like ‘How did the cloth become dry? Where has the water gone?, Why do we need water? and what will happen if water is not available? Students were then shown an experiment on water cycle. English: Students used objects to weave a story around them. One group was given an object to weave and illustrate a story, while the other group picked up an object from a mixed pool and presented a story. Students were also given objects of their choice to present their stories. Students attempted dictation of blends. For improving on their listening skills, students heard online audio tracks and thereafter answered questions asked by the facilitator. Students enjoyed playing online games on sentence formation and blends. Math: Students strengthened their understanding of the differences in heights by marking and measuring their height on a chart paper. To introduce ‘measurement of weight’, students lifted an empty and a full bag and a bottle. Subsequently they discussed the difference in what they experienced. Students were shown an online presentation to understand the need to have standard units of measurement and what these units of length meant - cm, metre and kilometre. Exploring the use of a ruler, students explored how to use a ruler individually and measure different objects. Later students attempted a task sheet in their process journals. Hindi: Students practiced writing vyanjan ‘dha’ in their process journals and used illustrations to depict the learnt vocabulary. Students attempted a summative assessment of two/three and ‘aa’ maatra words using flash cards. ICT: Students were briefed about username and login in. They learnt how to login into the laptop with the password and most of them did so successfully. PE: Students were introduced to Yoga and they practiced basic asanas like the tree posture, child posture and the butterfly posture. Music: Students were provoked to name instruments starting with some particular sounds and alphabets and then were initiated into learning names of the instruments according to the alphabets. They learned the sargam song "SA GA SA GA" and some of them attempted to sing it individually on the mike. They also heard the song "Summer Holidays" by Cliff Richard. Dance: Student are learning a combination of elementary level (Jazz, Blade) hands and (First and second Parallel) feet positions with different type of music during their dance routine. Art: Students continued to learn Portrait making. They made a Portrait of a friend sitting opposite to them. The art medium used was pencil colours. UOI: Students further explored the concept ‘Light and Shadow’ by making a Sun Dial and marking the position of the sun and shadow during different times of the day. They also recapitulated Day and Night activities and Nocturnal/Diurnal animals through a Popcorn Quiz. Students attempted a Formative Assessment in which they sorted pictures into day (morning, afternoon, evening) and night activities. In integration with English, students read a book “Why do leaves change colour” and discussed the change that takes place in the tree and its surroundings. English: Sight words ‘there’, ‘about’, ‘from’, ‘said’, ‘down’, ‘they’, ‘an’ and ‘that’ were introduced through a fun activity of musical chairs. Students read short paragraphs to develop comprehension skills. They also attempted a summative assessment on sequencing the story “The Rooster and the Sun”, by narrating it in their own words or through the use of puppets / flash cards. Math: Students measured different objects like pencils, bamboo sticks and paper strips with the help of un-fix cubes and paper clips, hand span, stride etc. Using play-doh, students made long and short worms and understood how to order or compare objects by their length. To introduce ‘measurement of weight’, students lifted empty and full bag and bottle and discussed the difference in what they experienced. Hindi: Students practiced writing new set of short sentences. In the ‘Take and Talk’ – ‘Mystery Bag’, students got an opportunity to touch and feel the object inside the mystery bag. They guessed the object by feeling it and were then given a chance to view it. They spoke about the object for a minute in front of their peers. Vyanjan or consonant “dha" was introduced through a visual presentation. Students practiced its formation through the use of ‘wax resist painting’ technique. ICT: Students created beautiful drawings using Doodoo Lite app on the iPad. They were excited to explore the magical colours of the app. PE: Students learned locomotor and non-locomotor movements like balancing and coordination. They also enjoyed playing a football match and practiced dribbling in basketball. Music: Students learned to play the treble clef scales on the keyboard. They practiced singing ‘count on me’. They presented the song with the karaoke track in a group. Dance: Student are learning a combination of elementary level (Jazz, Blade) hands and (First and second Parallel) feet positions with different type of music during their dance routine. Art: Based on their understanding of ‘Portrait making’, students traced an oval shape and added all the features. They then coloured the portrait using pencil colours. UOI: The students were involved in an interesting experiment with the globe and torch to see how day and night are formed. They also sorted objects into day and night activities. Students were familiarized with Diurnal and Nocturnal animals through a PPT, which was followed by a sorting activity. Students were introduced to the concept of ‘Light and Shadow’ with a Sun Dial . They explored how it was used in olden times; they marked the position of the Sun and shadow during different times of the day. English: Students were divided into pairs for guided reading of phonic/blend books. They were introduced to the fixed phonogram ‘oo’ and made sentences using blend/ phonogram words. In groups, students enjoyed ‘Picture reading’ where they expressed their thoughts and opinions on the given picture. Math: For the provocation of nonstandard units of measurement, students watched an online presentation and were introduced to the terms ‘hand span’, ‘cubit’, ‘stride’, etc. Students measured a table using hand span and cubit and were then taken to the corridor to measure its length using strides. Later, students brain stormed on how the stride of a tall child is different from that of a short child or the stride of a teacher is different from that of the students. Students were introduced to various terms related to measurement of height, weight, length etc. Hindi: Students continued practicing short sentences in their process journals. They were introduced to vyanjan ‘sha’ through a video. They understood its formation by writing on the slate and sand tracing. Later they also practiced writing it in their process journals. During their circle time students practiced their social skills by practicing how to excuse themselves for going to the washroom ICT: Students continued learning to explore fun activities on the laptop with a few instructions that helped them in handling the mouse and keyboard better. PE: Students practiced free hand exercises and enjoyed playing football. Music: Students were introduced to western music notations. They learned about 'TREBLE CLEF' and 'BASS CLEF' and how to sing and play the scales for both. They were demonstrated to play both the clefs with right and left hand on the keyboard. The students played the scales on the keyboard one by one. They also learned to sing the song "Count on me". Dance: Students tried a combination of basic hand and feet positions set to different types of music. Techniques of Dancing Statues helped them to work on their skills of coordination. Art: Students interpreted their composition on a “hot summer day" in their art journals. They also learnt the basics of Portrait making. UOI: Provocation to the new unit ‘Natural Cycles’ under the Transdisciplinary theme ‘How the world works’ was done by making students listen to the sounds associated with day and night . They used their thinking and listening skills to identify the sounds and the time of the day they are could hear those specific sounds. Students were taken for a gallery walk exhibiting the scenes of day and night. They then reflected on their understanding of various activities one does during the day time and at night, through a verbal quiz using 5 W’s (what, why, when, who, where and how) .A cube was used to find out more about the concepts. English: Students were divided into pairs for guided reading of phonic/blend books. They were introduced to the fixed digraph ‘th’. To develop their comprehension skills, students were given a tasksheet on reading short paragraphs. To revisit sight words, students were divided into groups. One group played the mystery bag game where they picked up a chit with sight words, identified them and made sentences using those words. The other group read books and wrote down the sight words they could identify in the story. Math: Reinforcement of vocabulary related to addition was done with the help of manipulatives and flash cards. Students were introduced to a new concept of Addition Facts Family. An activity was done where students explored the composition and decomposition of number 5 by forming groups of 2 + 3, 4 + 1 etc. Hindi: Students were introduced to vyanjan ‘da’ through a video. They understood its formation by writing on the slate and sand tracing. Later they also practiced writing it in their process journals. Assessment of Rhyming words was done through a Bingo activity. Students were introduced to short sentences. ICT: Students explored educational apps on the iPad and worked further on the laptop to enhance their mouse handling skills. PE: Children enjoyed practicing different ‘Zumba’ moves which aided in developing body coordination and improved their flexibility and strength. Students practiced walking, balancing and speed during skating lessons. Music: Students heard auditory sounds of natural calamities and experimented with various music instruments. They also practiced the scales on an individual basis. Dance: Students tried a combination of basic hand and feet positions set to different types of music. Techniques of Dancing Statues helped them to work on their skills of coordination. Art: Students coloured their drawing composition on "A hot summer day" using warm and cool colours. UOI: Students recapitulated the various lines of enquiry done during the unit “Pollution”. English: Students were introduced to fixed phonogram ‘ay’ and blends ‘ch’, ‘tr’ and ‘st’ using various visual presentations. They brainstormed the use of various words with these phonogram and blends and wrote the words in their process journals. They were also involved in for guided reading of phonic /blends books. Students also attempted a task called “Fix the sentence”. Each student was given a sentence to rewrite using correct spelling of the words, spaces, capitalization and punctuation. Math: Students recalled their knowledge of ‘o’clock’ with an enjoyable activity where they picked chits from a bowl and read the time written on it. Later they drew that time in the clock drawn on the white board. Provocation for ‘half past’ was done through a video after which the students were involved in a game using flash cards where they had to recognize time according to digital and analogue clocks. Students pasted 3 analogue clocks in their process journals and picked up flash cards with half past time and showed it on the clocks. To further strengthen the concept, the students played an online game of ‘half past’ time. Hindi: Students were introduced to vyanjan ‘ya’ through a video. They understood its formation by writing on the slate and sandpaper tracing. Later they also practiced writing it in their process journals. They further strengthened their understanding of rhyming words (Milte-julte shabd) which they also wrote in their journals. Students enjoyed listening to the story “Saanthava Suraj” and drew illustrations about their understanding of the same. ICT: Students created an illustration on ‘Pollution’ using various tools on Tux Paint on the laptop. PE: Students practiced playing football through a match. They also discussed about the basic rules of football e.g. number of players and equipment required. Music: The students were shown how to create various sounds of nature e.g. they used the wind chimes to create the sound of rain and Congo to create the sound of thunder etc. They presented the songs of their own choices from Disney productions which was followed by discussion about the MUSICALS and BROADWAY productions. They learned the lyrics of a new song - Lavender Blue. Dance: Students tried a combination of basic hands and feet positions with different type of music. Techniques of Dancing Statues helped them to work on their skills of coordination. UOI: Students revisited the concept of different types of pollution and their effects on human beings through an audio-visual presentation followed by a discussion. Students attempted a formative assessment on their understanding of the effects of pollution and our responsibility towards protecting our environment. English: Students were introduced to fixed phonograms ‘ch’ and ‘tr’. They brainstormed the related words and later illustrated and wrote them in their process journals. Students presented their Take & Talk on ‘Addition and subtraction story’ with excitement and confidence. They attempted a bingo on word blends. Students enhanced their comprehension skills while attempting a task sheet. Math: Students recapitulated the concept of Tens and Ones through various games and manipulatives. They also practiced 3D shapes using an online game. Later they attempted a summative assessment on 3D shapes where they formed a bar graph with the given 3D objects. Hindi: Students were introduced to vyanjan ‘ta’ through a video. They understood its formation by writing on the slate and sand tracing. Later they also practiced writing it in their process journals. They were introduced to two letter rhyming words (Milte-julte shabd) which they also practiced writing in their journals. Students also enjoyed reciting the rhyme ‘Jhilmil karte taare’. ICT: Students were given options to make a choice of their devices for use. Most of them preferred to explore their favourite educational app on the iPad, thus learning to be independent to choose and swipe. Few students took to the laptop and had fun exploring various educational apps which helped them to progress well with their mouse movement and skills. PE: Students practiced stance during basketball practice and attempted to hold on to a throw. They also practiced dribbling the basketball. Music: Students were introduced to 'Arpeggio'. They have started practicing the scales along with Metronome to keep steady beats. They also learnt the song "Raindrops on roses" and revised some of the previous songs. Dance: Students tried a combination of basic hands and feet positions with different type of music. Techniques of Dancing Statues helped them to work on their coordination. Art: Students painted the card board box and assembled recycled bottles on the box to create their installation. UOI: Students saw a video on waste management. They were introduced to the concept of the 3 Rs(Reuse, Reduce and Recycle) along with colour coded garbage bins through it. Students got an opportunity to meet Dr. Indu Gupta who spoke about the effects of pollution on living beings and also discussed about healthy and unhealthy foods. English: The concept of punctuation marks was recapitulated. Students also attempted a formative assessment for the same through a game ‘Pin the donkey’s tail’. Math: Students recapitulated the concept of 3D shapes through a sorting activity where they identified shapes and placed them under correct heading. Students observed the difference between 2D and 3D shapes and answered questions asked by the teacher. Hindi: Students were introduced to vyanjan ‘tha’ through picture cards. They understood its formation by writing on the slate and sand tracing. Later, they also practiced writing it in their process journals. Students recapitulated ‘ginti’ by illustrating the said number of objects on the white boards. Students watched a story on the festival ‘Holi’ followed by a discussion and also enjoyed reciting the rhyme ’Aayi holi re’. Music: Students performed the songs of their choice individually on the mike, during a class activity. PE: Students practiced how to hold a cricket bat with correct body posture. They also practised foot work for playing cricket. UOI: Students were shown pictures of healthy & polluted environments to discuss how pollution affects us and what steps can be taken to reduce them. Students attempted an assessment on the second line of inquiry ‘Effects of pollution on living beings’. Students were introduced to Global warming through a video that was followed by a discussion. Students also inquired about the 3Rs’ (Recycle, Reduce, Reuse) by watching a visual presentation. English: Students were introduced to sight words – ‘come’, ‘your’, ‘go’, ‘play’ and ‘make’ through flashcards. Later they practiced the words in groups using different clay and paint activities. Students enhanced their observation and viewing skills by spotting the difference between the given pictures and tried explaining them. Math: Students were introduced to the concept of doubling numbers 1-10 using manipulatives. Students were given subtraction equations in their process journals which they solved using number line and manipulatives. Hindi: Students were introduced to vyanjan ‘ja’ through a picture card hunt game. Later they also practiced writing it in their process journals. Students were introduced to blend vyanjans and swars to form three letter words through flash cards. Later they wrote these words in their journals and also illustrated them. Circle Time: During their circle time students the played silence game and practiced phonics. Music: Students were introduced to body percussion. They were divided into small groups for the same and then were asked to present it. The students have started learning the song "Holiday Road". They have also started learning the scales on the keyboard. PE: Students practiced bouncing the tennis ball for control and the learned the correct method of holding a tennis racquet. They also enjoyed playing a football match. Art:
Students recycled plastic bottles and waste cardboard pieces, to become sensitive towards waste management. They will further use their painted bottles to create an installation. |
