UOI: Provocation to the new unit ‘Natural Cycles’ under the Transdisciplinary theme ‘How the world works’ was done by making students listen to the sounds associated with day and night . They used their thinking and listening skills to identify the sounds and the time of the day they are could hear those specific sounds. Students were taken for a gallery walk exhibiting the scenes of day and night. They then reflected on their understanding of various activities one does during the day time and at night, through a verbal quiz using 5 W’s (what, why, when, who, where and how) .A cube was used to find out more about the concepts. English: Students were divided into pairs for guided reading of phonic/blend books. They were introduced to the fixed digraph ‘th’. To develop their comprehension skills, students were given a tasksheet on reading short paragraphs. To revisit sight words, students were divided into groups. One group played the mystery bag game where they picked up a chit with sight words, identified them and made sentences using those words. The other group read books and wrote down the sight words they could identify in the story. Math: Reinforcement of vocabulary related to addition was done with the help of manipulatives and flash cards. Students were introduced to a new concept of Addition Facts Family. An activity was done where students explored the composition and decomposition of number 5 by forming groups of 2 + 3, 4 + 1 etc. Hindi: Students were introduced to vyanjan ‘da’ through a video. They understood its formation by writing on the slate and sand tracing. Later they also practiced writing it in their process journals. Assessment of Rhyming words was done through a Bingo activity. Students were introduced to short sentences. ICT: Students explored educational apps on the iPad and worked further on the laptop to enhance their mouse handling skills. PE: Children enjoyed practicing different ‘Zumba’ moves which aided in developing body coordination and improved their flexibility and strength. Students practiced walking, balancing and speed during skating lessons. Music: Students heard auditory sounds of natural calamities and experimented with various music instruments. They also practiced the scales on an individual basis. Dance: Students tried a combination of basic hand and feet positions set to different types of music. Techniques of Dancing Statues helped them to work on their skills of coordination. Art: Students coloured their drawing composition on "A hot summer day" using warm and cool colours.
