UOI This week the students continued with the research and presentation of the similarities and differences of various festivals of light. The students were divided in groups and they gave a class presentation about the chosen festival of light to their peers. As a part of Math integration, students used the Venn diagram to show similarities and differences in any two festivals of light. Recapitulation of the personal, religious, national and international festivals was done with the help of a short discussion and sorting activity using flash cards Introduction of Continents was done through a continent song. Students were shown pictures of 7 continents and their key characteristics were discussed. English Reinforcement of the structure of the sentence along with appropriate punctuation was done. They watched the story ‘Gus the Duck’ on starfall on the smart board. To enhance their creativity students did an activity, “Weave the story” with the help of stick puppets. Students brainstormed “un” and “ub” family words and later wrote in their process journals. Spillover from previous week, formative assessment was done on punctuation/reading/illustrating. Students also listened to an online story and were then asked to illustrate a snowman and give it a name. Math Reinforcement of numbers from 1 to 20 was done using a Number Puzzle and a number line activity, wherein they had to arrange the numbers on the number line. In sync with the ongoing unit on celebrations students identified the number symbols and counted the corresponding number of diyas. Students also practiced quantity association with a task sheet An assessment sheet was attempted by the students wherein they counted the number of butter cubes and pasted on a matki. Hindi Introduction of two letter words with all the vyanjans done so far: ‘ba’, ‘sa’, ‘na’, ‘la’ was done with the help of the sand paper letters. Students joined the vyanjans and read the two letter words aloud. Later, students practiced writing the words in their process journals. Students learnt a new hindi rhyme ‘Lala ji ne’. Reinforcement of the vyanjans done so far “ba”,”sa”,”na”,”la” was done through the game musical chairs. Later they were given dictation on the slates. Assessment of Hindi vyanjans done so far was also done. ICT: Students were introduced to Smiley\Emoticons\Emoji on the iPad using touch keyboard. They had fun exploring various emoji. They also carried out tracing activities on the iPad. Art: Students drew objects using different shapes and later colored them.They also developed an understanding of the use of outlining art work and outlined the drawn objects with black crayons. Music: In the music class students played the basic beats on the congo and learnt some Christmas carols. PE: In the PE class students learnt the athletic skills like stance of the running.

UOI This week also, the students continued with their research on the different festivals of light celebrated across the globe. The students were divided in groups and they gave a class presentation about the chosen festival of light in front of their peers. English Students played musical chairs and read the sight words. Sentence formation was done using sight words and cvc words while playing the Word Ladder game and later they wrote them in their process journals. They brainstormed “ut” and “ug” words. Math Students were shown different types of clocks (sundial, analogue, and digital) on the smart board. They also learnt how to read O’clock time on analogue clock and digital clock where they picked up chits and read time written on it. Students played the Time puzzle hunt game in which they had to hunt for puzzle pieces on which analogue and digital time was shown. Later they had to match and make pairs by joining the puzzle. As a part of ICT integration, students explored an application on “time telling” in I-pads. Formative assessment was done where in children had to draw time given to them on the clocks pasted. Recapitulation of addition was done where students were given addition sums in their process journals and they had to solve them using any strategy (number line, manipulatives or drawing lines). Hindi Reinforcement of swars “e”, “ee”, “o”, “oo” was done through Hopscotch. Formative assessment on “Hindi ki Ginti 1 to 10” (was done through “Simon Says” game) and “Rangon ke naam” was done with a game on primary colors where students were shown a colour, and they drew an object from nature in their process journals. The vyanjan “pa” was introduced to the children, later students wrote the same in their process journals. The children also enjoyed listening to story book “Pranav ki Tasveer”. Circle Time As a part of Early Years Skill Building Program, students learnt how to tie bows. They also learnt how to make a house using the technique of paper folding-Origami. Music: The students practiced to play the 2/4 and 2/6 beat on the congo. They played and presented the same individually. They revised the scales on the xylophone and started learning the Christmas carols. Art Students inquired into the technique of clay modelling and used this medium to create figures of their family members. UOI Moving further with the inquiry on the current theme “Celebrations” students this week inquired about the different “festivals of light” celebrated across the world like Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and Loy Krathong. The students researched about these festivals using the tools like books/ppt/internet and later illustrated and presented their findings. Students also did an activity based on the concept of personal, religious and social celebrations wherein they were given pictures in a mixed pool and had to sort them on the basis of above mentioned categories. English Reinforcement of three letter words was done by playing Bingo. They also attempted a dictation on ‘et’, ‘eg’, ‘en’ and ‘ed’ family words covered so far in their process journals. Reinforcement of blend ‘bl’ was done by writing related words in their process journals. As a part of UOI integration, students went on a field trip to Gurudwara Sahib and later reflected on the same. Maths Recapitulation of 2D shapes was done using ‘The Shape game’. The students also attempted a Formative Assessment on shapes. The concept of “Time” was initiated this week. Students inquired about the need of having a clock in our day to day life. Students did a jigsaw puzzle of a clock. Later they did an activity “Making my own clock” Hindi The vyanjan “na” was introduced to the children with the help of video, later students wrote the same in their process journals. Recapitulation of vyanjans done so far “ba’, “sa’, and “na’ was also done through the bingo game. As a part of UOI integration students listened to the story “Ismat ki Id”. Circle Time: As a part of Early Years Skill Building Programme, students learnt how to roll and unroll a cloth mat. They also learnt how to use paper clips. ICT: The students carried out educational activities on the Laptop as well as on the iPad. Art Students inquired into the technique of clay modelling and used this medium to create figures of their family members. Music The students were given an opportunity to play the musical instrument Congo. PE: In the PE class students did lot of exercises and understood how they are important to keep us fit. They also learnt how to dab a basketball. |
