UOI: Students were shown a visual presentation on the ten most polluted cities in India. After a discussion with the facilitator, they embarked on a group activity in which they arranged the data as bar graph in descending order of pollution levels. They used their thinking skills in another activity where they saw a visual presentation on the cause- effect relationship of air pollution and suggested measures to control it. Students attempted a Formative Assessment on the first line of inquiry where they sorted the pictures of types of pollution and pasted it in their process journals. English: Students were engaged in a group activity to enhance their creativity and thinking skills by weaving a story. One group chose a theme and conceptualized a story around it. Another group found words written on paper in a sensory bag filled with sand and engaged in weaving a story using these words. A third group was given paper puppets to present a story to the class. Students were introduced to few more sight words like ‘more’, ‘look’, ‘here’, ‘with’ and ‘like’ using simple sentences, with a powerpoint presentation. Later they wrote the same in their process journals. A dictation was undertaken to enhance their vocabulary and spelling formations. In a listening activity, students heard an audio clip for few seconds and were given a comprehension sheet to work out. Math: Students reinforced numbers up to 30 with enjoyable riddles.They were introduced to ordinal numbers through a visual presentation. They played a game in groups, in which they picked up a number card and arranged themselves according to an ordinal number, calling out the numbers as ‘first’, ‘second’, ‘third’ and so on. They also played an online game on ordinal numbers along with their facilitator. Another game involved a car racing track setup in class in which students raced their cars and later arranged themselves according to their ranks. They also attempted a task sheet on ordinal numbers. Hindi: Students were introduced to vyanjan ‘va’ through a visual presentation. They practiced the formations through sand tracing and slate writing. They also practiced writing and illustrating vyanjans ‘va’ and ‘da’ in their process journals. To enhance their vocabulary and spelling formations, students were introduced to more two letter words. They were introduced to a rhyme - ‘Udi Patang’ which they enjoyed reciting. Circle Time: As a part of Early Year’s Skill building program, students practiced how to open and close buttons on a shirt. They also practiced transferring water from one bowl to another using a dropper. Art: Students continued last week’s activity of colouring Doodle Art using complementary colours. Medium of Art used - oil pastels and wax crayons. Dance: Students danced using a combination of steps, in groups of four. They also practiced a routine for the UOI presentation. Music: The students practiced playing scales of ‘Twinkle-Twinkle’ on the xylophone. They also tried singing the ‘Earth Song’ by Michael Jackson. Students also inquired about the famous music maestro, Mozart and engaged in auditory appreciation of a few of his compositions. PE: Students learnt how to grip a racquet properly using points/spots on the palm that are considered important for certain grip levels. They practiced correct body postures and the swinging movement while holding a racquet. Fun time!
