UOI: Students further explored the concept ‘Light and Shadow’ by making a Sun Dial and marking the position of the sun and shadow during different times of the day. They also recapitulated Day and Night activities and Nocturnal/Diurnal animals through a Popcorn Quiz. Students attempted a Formative Assessment in which they sorted pictures into day (morning, afternoon, evening) and night activities. In integration with English, students read a book “Why do leaves change colour” and discussed the change that takes place in the tree and its surroundings. English: Sight words ‘there’, ‘about’, ‘from’, ‘said’, ‘down’, ‘they’, ‘an’ and ‘that’ were introduced through a fun activity of musical chairs. Students read short paragraphs to develop comprehension skills. They also attempted a summative assessment on sequencing the story “The Rooster and the Sun”, by narrating it in their own words or through the use of puppets / flash cards. Math: Students measured different objects like pencils, bamboo sticks and paper strips with the help of un-fix cubes and paper clips, hand span, stride etc. Using play-doh, students made long and short worms and understood how to order or compare objects by their length. To introduce ‘measurement of weight’, students lifted empty and full bag and bottle and discussed the difference in what they experienced. Hindi: Students practiced writing new set of short sentences. In the ‘Take and Talk’ – ‘Mystery Bag’, students got an opportunity to touch and feel the object inside the mystery bag. They guessed the object by feeling it and were then given a chance to view it. They spoke about the object for a minute in front of their peers. Vyanjan or consonant “dha" was introduced through a visual presentation. Students practiced its formation through the use of ‘wax resist painting’ technique. ICT: Students created beautiful drawings using Doodoo Lite app on the iPad. They were excited to explore the magical colours of the app. PE: Students learned locomotor and non-locomotor movements like balancing and coordination. They also enjoyed playing a football match and practiced dribbling in basketball. Music: Students learned to play the treble clef scales on the keyboard. They practiced singing ‘count on me’. They presented the song with the karaoke track in a group. Dance: Student are learning a combination of elementary level (Jazz, Blade) hands and (First and second Parallel) feet positions with different type of music during their dance routine. Art: Based on their understanding of ‘Portrait making’, students traced an oval shape and added all the features. They then coloured the portrait using pencil colours.
