Going further into the inquiry of the ongoing theme, students spoke about their family members with the help of pictures brought from their home. In addition to this the facilitator also got her family pictures and spoke about her family. Later, students illustrated their own family members. They were familiarized with the two different signs for a male and a female. As a part of numeracy, students explored the concept of greater than and less than through manipulatives. Students, also saw a video on Greater Than / Less Than. To understand the progression of the numbers students were divided into 3 groups and peer assessment was done on comparing the numbers and matching the quantity with the number in the process journals. They also solved math riddles by using their thinking skills. As a part of UOI integration- students used their research skills and made a bar graph to find out how many of them stay in a nuclear / joint family. Later they assessed which number is more – nuclear family or joint family. Introduction to Hindi swar “e” was done through videos, sand tray, slates. Students wrote swar “e” in their process journal and illustrated objects related to it. As a part of the Unit of Inquiry integration, students read the story - “Mummy ki Saree” and its characters were discussed. Special Assembly was conducted on the ongoing Rio Olympics, 2016. Students learnt about the games which are played indoors as well out doors. Later a class activity was done to make a Venn diagram depicting the same. Students drew creative illustrations by using simple shapes on the ongoing theme in their Art Files.
