Going further and deeper into the central idea ‘Family relationships contribute to shaping our identity’ students attempted a task sheet to demonstrate their understanding of various roles performed by the members in their family. As a part of media literacy, students were shown some videos depicting roles of different members in a family followed by a discussion about the roles of their family members. Later students enacted a role play defining different roles within a family. Students were read a story ‘Grandma’s glasses’ followed by a discussion. Later they attempted a comprehension task sheet based on the story. Students comprehended ‘at’ and ‘an’ sounds and related words through various interactive games. They also illustrated and practiced writing the learnt vocabulary in their process journals. Students read a short story ‘Zac the rat’ through an online game. They were also introduced to five sight words I, an, of, the, is through a ladder coloring sheet. Provocation for the concept of ’Even and Odd’ was done through a treasure hunt game which the children played in pairs. They were tuned into the concept through ‘Think, pair and share’ strategy where they counted and shared the objects with their partners to find out whether the number of objects was even or odd. A story ‘The seven jelly beans’ was enacted through a puppet show followed by an odd and even song for recapitulation of concept. Students were assessed on their understanding of ‘e’ and ‘ee’ through a matching task sheet where they identified the pictures and matched them with the correct swars. They were introduced to swars ‘o’ and ‘oo’ and related vocabulary through a video. To understand the formation students practiced sand tracing of these swars followed by writing on slates. Later they illustrated the learnt vocabulary and practiced writing ‘o’ in their process journals. They were narrated a story ‘Amma kahan hai’ followed by a discussion. Students enjoyed singing ‘Raindrops’ song in their music class. Students practiced catching of ball and participated in racing in their P.E class.
